This is a very recent example of my architectural drawing work. Pulled together with about a day of work, the task here was to produce concept art for a video game environment. It was to take inspiration from Huddersfield, my university town, as well as cyberpunk films like Metropolis and Blade Runner. The end result was to be a futuristic Huddersfield, interpreted either as a glorious utopia or a run-down lower-level maze.
Starting with a really quite characteristic back-alley behind the Tokyo nightclub, I pulled together three areas from photographs and looked to the town's Piazza Centre for the skyscraper shapes. With it I hope to have struck a medium, with this one of the few remaining alleyways, discarded by the city planners in the name of progress. Where modern day Huddersfield stretches off to a ring road and Tesco supermarket, the media studios and offices have taken over and risen skyward, leaving the remnants of student-friendly business behind.
